Liberty returned to the diamond Friday for another scrimmage.  The Sunday scrimmage has been split into today's scrimmage & Saturday's scrimmage at 4 pm which is expected to be 11 or 12 innings.  The temperature reached the low 60's in Lynchburg this afternoon though there were heavy wind gusts at times.  The Flames also got the new videoboard board installed (see Nick Pierce's tweet) which appears to be larger and much higher definition.  Let's hope the staff can get the net up before it takes a bomb off the board like Logan Mathieu's opposite field shot to walk Bellarmine off last year.

Offensively, Nathan Keeter had some really good swings that resulted in 2 well struck doubles.  Three Hillier added a double.  On the other squad Gray Betts had a double and single and Aaron Anderson had a double and 2 walks.  Bo Majkowski has 2 doubles as well and Hill, Foster & Mcneal all had singles.

Pitching wise, Cumming & Adametz went 5 innings each and combined for 12 punchouts.  Cumming fanned 8 and had 1 walk and allowed 3 hits.  The relievers continued to impress.  All showed good life on their fastball's as the weather continues to warm.  Hertzler also started and threw 2 innings and allowed 2 hits while punching out 3 hitters.  Cole Garret had 2 more solid innings with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.  Trey Carter looked good in 2 innings with 1K.  His secondary pitches, particularly the slider continue to come along.  Erickson tossed an inning with 2 K's and a 1 hit allowed.  Mason Fluharty allowed 2 hits and had 2 k's in his inning of work.  Hungate also threw a very efficient 12 pitch inning in which 9 of the 12 pitches were strikes.  He finished with 2 K's and no hits allowed.

Former Flame Ryan Cordell who is back with the program as a student assistant coach filled in in the outfield for a bit.  Good to see a former Flame who made it to the show back in the burg with the program.
