Liberty 26 - 12 ASUN: 12 - 6 1 GB KSU in East RPI : 45 Quad 1 : 5-5 Projected Regional Seed : 3 Liberty went 4 and 0 in a week for the first time since early March including a weekend sweep of North Florida.  The Flames whipped the Ospreys 22-4 Friday and won a slugfest highlighted by 3 Gulakowski homers.  Then they won a pair of 1 run games 5 to 4 and 10 to 9 to finish out the weekend.  Sunday particularly wasn't always pretty at times but good teams find multiple ways to win and Liberty did just that.  Cade Hungate returned to action after missing the last several weeks of action due to arm soreness and looked pretty solid in his return.   The bullpen looks much better with Hungate at the end of it and Carter, Fluharty, Erickson and Beamon as the primary set-up guys.  Liberty is primarily using 9 pitchers right now regularly.  Hopefully, they can get 1 or 2 more guys step up to make it 10 or 11 guys that get regular usage.   Liberty will head to UNC for a midweek rematch with T
Liberty : 24 - 12 ASUN : 10-6 RPI : 40 Liberty won a thriller over Duke 3 to 2 in the midweek on Aaron Anderson's walkoff hit.  Logan Mathieu had a laser in the 8th that tied it at 2.  Liberty got outstanding pitching from Trey Gibson, Jeremy Beamon & Trey Carter to limit the Blue Devils to just 2 hits and 2 earned runs to go along with 3 walks.   This was a really big midweek win simply because the remaining midweek games are mostly on the road and against very difficult opponents (UNC, Wake & VT, home vs HPU).  Liberty came into the weekend feeling good about themselves and absolutely smashed North Florida 22-4 behind 3 Brady Gulakowski dingers and 4 hits and 8 total RBI including a 479 foot tank shot that landed deep into the parking lot.  Garrett Horn went 6 innings and gave up 3 runs for yet another strong start to get the win.  The Flames used Wilson, Alba & Nick Moran who made his collegiate debut in the 9th while giving up 1 run.  North Florida came in riding
Liberty : 22-12 ASUN : 9-6 Warren Nolan RPI : 37 Quad 1 Record : 5-5 Quad 2 Record : 4-1 Liberty dropped the midweek game in a 10-6 slugfest vs Virginia Tech.  Then the Flames took 2 of 3 on the road from the ASUN East leading Kennesaw State Owls.  Liberty won big in Games 1 and 2 by a combined score of 27-5.  Garrett Horn went 6 innings and had 9 strikeouts again in route to the win Friday night.  Anderson, Orndorff, Foster & Keeter all had 2 RBI's each.  Keeter, Hill & Anderson all had 2 hits a piece on Friday.  Trey Carter pitched the final 3 innings of the game allowing 1 ER which would lower his ERA to 2.25.  Horn's ERA is down to 1.62 after his start.  Weather push the Flames and Owls into a DH on Saturday.  Liberty rang the bell early and often and had an 8 to 0 lead after the first inning.  Dylan Cumming went all 7 innings of the DH 10 run rule game in route to lowering his ERA to 2.92.  Offensively, Betts and Anderson each had 4 hits and Betts had 5 RBI i
Record 20-10 Conference 7-5 (2nd in Asun East) RPI : 36 Quad 1 Record : 3-3 Quad 2 Record : 5-3 Liberty had struggled to a 6-9 record over it's past 15 games after coming out of the gate red hot.  A heavy hitting FGCU team made it's way to Lynchburg feeling pretty good after taking 2 of 3 from ASUN East leading Kennesaw State.  Liberty dominated the weekend series by a combined score of 27-8.  Liberty held the Eagles to fewer runs on the weekend than they average per game (credit to Matt Warner for digging that up).  The Flames got quality starting pitching in all 4 games this week and it got better with every start.  Horn went 5 1/3 with 9 K's on 102 pitches in the Friday night game.  Orndorff, Hillier & Mathieu paced the offense with 2 RBI each.  Carter, Fluharty & Beamon combined to allow just 1 unearned run the rest of the way. Saturday was the Dylan Cumming show as he went 8 strong for the longest outing of the season.  His ERA is down to 2.85 as he allowed j
Record : 17-9  ASUN :  4-5  RPI : 53 Last 10 : 5-5 Game 1 : Jacksonville 6 -1 Game 2 : Liberty 6-2 Game 3 : Jacksonville 11-7 Liberty lost it's second consecutive ASUN series for the first time in a long time.  Jacksonville has become a difficult place to play for the Flames.  This series dropped their record to just 2-6 in Jacksonville including 2 costly losses in the ASUN tournament last year.  Liberty is just 3 and 7 against Jacksonville since arriving in the ASUN granted almost all of those are road games or ASUN tourney games in Jacksonville or in the state of Florida.  Liberty has had trouble putting all 3 phases of the game together lately.  The coaching staff turned the rotation upside down this past week looking for some stronger starts with mixed results.  Garrett Horn looked the part on Friday night as he went 4 1/3 and punched out 7 Dolphin hitters.  Horn will need another week or 2 to build up his stamina but he looks like Liberty's best bet to go 7 innings
