Record : 15-7 Asun : 3-3 Liberty went 1 and 3 in the 4 games over the past week in dropping a home game against Wake Forest and losing 2 of 3 to the Stetson Hatters at home over the weekend.  Wake Forest is the best hitting team I have seen in some time.  Maybe the best hitting team I have ever seen in person in Lynchburg.  1-9 that lineup could flat out hit the ball.  The Flames also lost Gray Betts to a concussion on a foul ball to the facemask.  Friday night the Flames would lose conference player of the year favorite Derek Orndorff to a concussion as well after he was hit in the head in a very scary moment.  Cade Hungate would blow his first save of the year but the Flames would come back to win on a walkoff single from catcher Three Hillier.  Saturday, The Flames would lose 5 to 3 in another hard fought game that saw Liberty strand 11 runners on base.  Trey Gibson would again fall behind early and exit after 2 innings and 4 runs 3 of which were earned.  Freshman Garrett Horn wo

March 14, 2022 Liberty 12 - 2 Liberty split a weekend 2 game series with Campbell after the middle game on Saturday was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.  A cold front brought snow early, extreme cold temperatures & heavy wind gusts all day.  On the field Campbell dominated Friday night behind 7 scoreless innings from Tommy Harrington and 2 loud dingers from Zach Neto.  There was a bevy of scouts on hand Friday to see the game.  Offensively, the Flames struggled all week other than a 1st inning solo shot from Aaron Anderson against UNC that won that game.  Harrington kept the Flames off balance all night & the Flames couldn't seem to get Neto out either. The Camels bats woke up and the Flames pitching had it's worst outing of the year Friday.  After being shut 7 to 0 Friday the Flames turned the calendar to Sunday to face Campbell's #2 start Kuehler who can run it up to 97 mph.  Sundays game looked like more of the same until the 4th and 5th innings whe
March 8,  2022 #14 Liberty 1 #15 UNC 0 Record : 11-1 Liberty won a very well played top 25 matchup against UNC in front of just under 2,700 fans at Liberty Baseball Stadium on Tuesday night.  You could tell right from the start this was something different.  Parking lot was full about 20 minutes before the game, fans looking for overflow lots and filing into the stadium and seats packed as well the as the berm area's and many fans standing around the concourse.  Aaron Anderson would smash a solo shot that looked a little like Carlton Fisk's shot for the Red Sox back in the day that also just cleared the foul poll in the 1st inning.  That would prove to be the only run of the game.  Anderson has gotten hot lately and is really barreling the ball up.  Dylan Cumming would start the game and go 4 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball on 63 pitches.  Cumming got in quite the jam in the first inning before escaping with no damage done.  Betts had a huge play in which he threw out Honeyc
March 6, 2022 *Flames sweep CU Liberty 10 -1 Liberty closed out another 3 game sweep in impressive fashion with a 14 to 5 win on Sunday.  The Flames outscored CU 32 to 9 in the series.  Excluding the Florida series Liberty has outscored their opponents 84 to 18 in the other 8 games this year.  Liberty has also run off 10 consecutive wins since losing the season opener to Barco and Florida.  Joe Adametz went 6 strong innings allowing just 1 unearned run Friday night en route to the win.  He continues to set the table for the weekend.  Flu & Hungate followed him to combine for 3 scoreless innings.  Saturday the offense took over as Gibson went 4 innings and allowed 2 earned runs.  Super Frosh Garrett Horn shined again in 4 innings while allowing just 1 run as he was throwing some serious smoke from the left side.  He sat 95-97 in his 4 innings.  He did throw 67 pitches which could make him unavailable for Tuesday's game against UNC.  Landon Riley threw a scoreless 9th.  Max Alba
