Summer Wood Bat League Stats

 

The Summer wood bat leagues are beginning to wind down.  The  Flames have several incoming players and some players transferring in that have played this summer.  


Jack McMullan - Playing for the Charlottesville Tom Sox and has hit .170 with 1 HR and 8 RBI's in 47 AB's.

Ben Roberts - Roberts is playing for Tri State in the Appy league.  He's made 6 appearances totaling just over 10 IP with a 2.53 ERA and a whopping 22 strikeouts which is good for almost 2.2 K/IP.  

Nick Barone- Barone is playing for the Rockford Rivets in the Summer league primarily in the OF.  He's hit .325 with 1 HR and 18 RBI's.  

Riley Decandido -.  Candido has had a nice summer in the Cal Ripken league playing for the Alexandria Aces while hitting .325 with 1 HR and 34 RBI's. 

Spencer Williams - Williams is playing for New Market in the Appy League.  He's got a 3.52 ERA in 30 2/3 IP with 34 K's.  

Terry Kaler - Kaler has a 7.36 ERA in just over 7 IP for Mooresville of the Southern Collegiate Baseball Leauge.  

Josh Swink - Swink is pitching for Forest City of the Coastal Plains League.  He's got a 4.76 ERA in 17 IP with 17 K's.  

Tucker Moore- Moore had 17 plate appearances for Mystic of the NE Coastal League where he recorded 1 hit.

2024 Transfers & Signings

  We're now a few weeks removed from the end of the 24 baseball season that saw the Flames go 24-34 including 11-13 in CUSA play and 2-2 in the CUSA tournament.  It's time to turn the page to see who is coming and going for the 25 version of the Flames.   First, we start with those that are in the portal. Todd Hudson - Hudson is by far the most impactful player lost in the portal.  Hudson showed flashes on the mound the last 2 years but was inconsistent.  He did however make a quite big impact in the lineup as the DH as he hit .284 with 11 HR's and 40 RBI's and .975 OPS.  He was pretty much locked into the DH spot.  Hudson has transferred to the Miami Hurricanes.   Brian Mclellin - Mclellin was a JUCO transfer that played quite a bit in the first half of the season at 1B where he played excellent defense.  His bat faded as the season wore on as he ended at .246 with 6 HR's and 24 RBI's.  He was a solid depth piece for the Flames unlikely to command a starting

  2024 Signees Liberty is expecting 10 NLI's tomorrow which consists of Juco & HS signees.  Macaddin Dye was originally a 2024 class member but he's already on campus and had a big fall and looks like he could factor into the mix.  You can look at the type of pitchers that Coach Robinson has targeted and really quickly see a bit of a philosophical shift to well built power right handed arms.  No surprise there as Campbell rolled a bunch of those guys through the program the last 5 years.  There are still plenty of different looks in the staff but this could be a good indicator of what the future holds.  Overall, the class is filled with big physical older players that will supplement a very young and athletic roster to go along with wiry athletes like Black & Early.   Sawyer Black  - Black is a 6'1 185 2B/OF prospect that hails from just over the VA border in Oak Ridge NC.  Liberty has snagged several players from Wesleyan over the years.  Black is a toolsy left han
