Flames in MILB

 

Draft

Cole Hertzler - Hertzler was taken in the 5th round by the Astros at pick #163 and has signed for $396,200.  

Garrett Horn - Garrett Horn who was drafted in the 6th Rd and pick # 195 and signed for $250,000 while rehabbing from TJ Surgery.  

Congrats to both of those guys.  Would have loved to see what 2024 looked like with a healthy Horn the whole season.  Also cost him a bit of money in the draft but the timing of the injury left him virtually no choice but to sign.  He would have come back very late in the College Baseball season had he returned for 25.  

MILB

Liberty has quite a few players on the verge of getting the call to the show.  This is the most collection of talent at the higher level of the minors with a legitimate chance to make the show that the program has seen in a long time.  The bulk of it are pitchers from the 2019-2022 era.  

Fraser Ellard - Ellard has ascended to AAA Charlotte in the White Sox organization where he has also made the organizations top 30 prospects per MLB this week.  Ellard has a 3.76 ERA in 40 2/3 IP with 3 saves and 59 K's.  Ellard has an excellent chance at making it to the Majors possibly post MLB trade deadline as a versatile lefty out of the pen.  Keep an eye on September callup season if the Sox don't move any bullpen pieces at the deadline and call him up.  

Will Wagner - Wags has also made his way up to AAA in the Astros system.  He's hitting .307 with 5 HR's and 41 RBI's with a .424 OBP.  He's moved over to play mostly 3B in the minors.  He's a consensus top 15 player in the Astros system regardless of publication.  

Mason Fluharty - Fluharty is in AAA in the Blue Jays system.  He's 4-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 47 IP with 51 Strikeouts.  Fluharty could have a shot very soon in the pros as well as the Blue Jays have been actively trading away rental players as part of the 24 trade deadline.  

Noah Skirrow - Skirrow is in AA Reading in the Phillies organization.  He has a 5.25 ERA in just over 60 IP.  Skirrow's stock appears to have went down a bit since his start for Team Canada in the WBC last year and most of his time was spent in AAA last year in MILB.   Hopefully he can find a groove here in the second half and starting charging back toward the majors.  

Mikey Tepper - Tepper just finished up in the FCL with the Nats down in Florida.  He has a 2.77 ERA in 26 IP with 32 Strikeouts.  Tepper should get bumped up to Low A here with the FCL winding down.  

Dylan Cumming - Cumming has quickly moved up to AA in the Giants organization.  He's 4-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 73 IP with 93 Strikeouts.  Cummings unique delivery and movement give him a chance to continue to move.  

Joe Adametz - Adametz has reached the High A affiliate of the Tigers system.  He's 4-2 with a 2.94 ERA 67 IP with 58 Strikeouts.  

Max Alba - Alba is also in High A on the same team as Adametz in the Tigers system.  He's 2-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 34 IP.
