January 31, 2021 The Flames have battled cold blustery weather all weekend to get in 3 total scrimmages.  On Sunday Gray Betts paced the offense with 2 singles and a walk and Aaron Anderson and Jake Lazarro each had a double.  Trey Gibson shined in his first outing punching out 6 batters in 3 innings with no runs or walks.  Landon Riley recorded a perfect inning with a K in relief.  Max Alba the UNC transfer looked good in his first outing of the spring.  He went 3 innings with 4 punch-out's 1 walk and 1 run allowed.  The Flames had a shorter scrimmage today.  Stephen Hill recorded 2 hits including a double.  Bo Majkowski had a double, Anderson a single and Hillier with a single.  A couple of intriguing arms that are fighting to get in that bullpen mix had encouraging outings today.  Tim Miller, the Richmond transfer had 3 punch-out's in 2 innings pitched and lefty Garret Horn recorded 4 punch-out's in 2 innings as well.  Horn is a 6'2 freshman lefty from Kernersville
January 29, 2022 The Flames got the first scrimmage of the year in on Friday despite blustery conditions.  Dylan Cumming and Joe Adametz were the starters in the 6 inning scrimmage.  The game featured 3 doubles from Aaron Anderson, Derek Orndorff & Ty Peters.  Betts, Mathieu, Majkowski, Lazarro, Hill & Keeter all had singles in the live action.  Betts and Anderson drove up pitch counts in their AB's and looked ready to set the table atop the Flames lineup once again for the 22 season.  Trey Carter shined with 4 K's in 2 innings as he has focused exclusively on pitching since the fall.  Mason Fluharty was sharp with 3 punch outs as well.  Hungate and Erickson also saw time on the mound in the scrimmage.   Sounds like the Flames will take today off with the snow and cold weather pushing through the area.  Scrimmages are planned for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.   The weather won't keep the Flames completely quiet this weekend as we hear a couple of very talented recru
January 1, 2022 Well, it's officially the New Year.  For me and most of you baseball diehards that means we are just under 45 days or so away from the road to Omaha which will start in Gainesville this year.  It's still relatively quiet in the burg and it will be for another week or so until players start to trickle back in for that all so crucial 4 week stretch right before the start of the new year.  It's likely that most of the decisions have already been made on who will be on the active roster and who may redshirt (not counting injury) of course.  That being said there have been a few pieces of news break since we last wrote.   *Aaron Anderson was named a pre-season All American by the Collegiate Baseball publication which is one of the more respected publications.  Anderson was the only player from the ASUN to receive the recognition.  Anderson was a key cog in the Flames offensive attack and provided a spark from the LH and RH sides of the plate in year 1.  He also
