2024 Signees Liberty is expecting 10 NLI's tomorrow which consists of Juco & HS signees.  Macaddin Dye was originally a 2024 class member but he's already on campus and had a big fall and looks like he could factor into the mix.  You can look at the type of pitchers that Coach Robinson has targeted and really quickly see a bit of a philosophical shift to well built power right handed arms.  No surprise there as Campbell rolled a bunch of those guys through the program the last 5 years.  There are still plenty of different looks in the staff but this could be a good indicator of what the future holds.  Overall, the class is filled with big physical older players that will supplement a very young and athletic roster to go along with wiry athletes like Black & Early.   Sawyer Black  - Black is a 6'1 185 2B/OF prospect that hails from just over the VA border in Oak Ridge NC.  Liberty has snagged several players from Wesleyan over t...
The 2024 schedule has been released which means we're just a few months away from 1st pitch.  As usual, Scott Jackson & company have assembled a great schedule that will have the Flames firmly in the mix for an at large if they can handle their business.  Liberty will play 20 games against teams that were in the NCAA tourney headlined by another home and home with CWS Finale participant Wake Forest.  Wake lost several top players like Lowder & Blinken to the 1st round but they have plenty more coming back.  In all the Flames will have 7 ACC games including 3 at home and 2 big time home weekend series against mid major powers.   The Flames will open the season at home against Quinnipiac for 3.  They finished at 203 in the RPI and were just over .500.  I like getting this type of series early to build confidence.  Last year the Flames got punched in the mouth right out of the gate against Southern Miss and never seemed to recover. ...
The Fall portion of the 2023-2024 Liberty Flames has come and gone.  Liberty had 2 scrimmages both of which were power 5 road games against UNC and WVU.  The matchup at UNC didn't go well aside from Cooper, Moran & Hertzler all throwing well.  The bullpens arm had trouble getting outs and the bats struggled to make hard contact.  The Flames flipped the script in Morgantown smashed 6 homers and plated 14 runs in total.  The staff limited WVU to just 2 runs through the first 2 which included 2 innings each from Horn Moran & Hertzler.  Both UNC and WVU will be in contention to be Top 25 type teams.   At one time it looked like Trey Gibson, Mikey Tepper and late high school signee Keegan Zinn would all make it to campus.  All 3 ended up either being drafted or signing MILB free agent deals but the Flames did get Trey Carter back in the fold.  That being said, it opened up some spots in the rotation behind Horn & Moran....
