2024 Signees

Liberty is expecting 10 NLI's tomorrow which consists of Juco & HS signees.  Macaddin Dye was originally a 2024 class member but he's already on campus and had a big fall and looks like he could factor into the mix.  You can look at the type of pitchers that Coach Robinson has targeted and really quickly see a bit of a philosophical shift to well built power right handed arms.  No surprise there as Campbell rolled a bunch of those guys through the program the last 5 years.  There are still plenty of different looks in the staff but this could be a good indicator of what the future holds.  Overall, the class is filled with big physical older players that will supplement a very young and athletic roster to go along with wiry athletes like Black & Early.  

Sawyer Black - Black is a 6'1 185 2B/OF prospect that hails from just over the VA border in Oak Ridge NC.  Liberty has snagged several players from Wesleyan over the years.  Black is a toolsy left handed hitter that throws right that could see time early as well.  The Flames love his versatility.

Callum Early - Early is a 6'0 175 LB LH hitting right handed throwing Middle Infield prospect that hails from Midlothian.  He is the younger brother of former UVA start Connelly Early who was just drafted in the 5th round of the draft.  Early's stock has risen dramatically over the last 6 months as he has matured physically.  Early has a very high ceiling and could see time early.

Ty Goodson - Goodson is a 6'3 RHP 225 LB RHP that hails from Maiden NC.  Goodson is a big physical kid that has been up to 94.  Exceptionally strong  and developed lower body for a high schooler.  Goodson was a Campbell commitment but followed Coach Robinson to Liberty pretty shortly after Robinson moved to Liberty.  We could see Goodson sooner rather than later!

Peter Johnson - Johnson is a 6'4 215 LB LH hitting outfielder from Iowa Central CC.  He spent his freshman year at Bradley where he appeared in 4 games and scored a run in 3 at bats.  Johnson is another physical presence that averaged nearly 100 mph exit velo in PBR showcase events nationally.

Bryce Lane - Lane is a 6'3 210 LB corner infielder that hits right handed.  Lane started out at IMG Academy in Florida before transferring in to Patrick Henry Community College down in Martinsville where he will play in the Spring.  He's originally from the Chesapeake area and exhibits tremendous raw power with exhibit velo's that have topped out over 100 MPH.  Lane's brother starred at Florida & Arizona State and spent some time in the Mets organization.

Cooper Harrington - Harrington is a 6'0 160 LB RHP from Sanford NC.  He's the younger brother of former Campbell ace Thomas Harrington.  Another Campbell connection and Robinson will look to develop the younger Harrington into an impact player.

Michael Gibson - Gibson is a 6'2 205 LB 2 way prospect that hits and throws right handed.  He signed with Charleston Southern out of high school where he played at Rock Hill SC in Winthrop's back door.  Gibson played in 25 games hitting .194.  Gibson will play at Florida Darlington Tech this year before transferring in to Liberty.  Gibson pitched over the Summer and showed some impressive advanced metrics including a very strong spin rate while topping out at 92.  It will be interesting to follow how Gibson progresses on the mound in the Spring.

Brayden Hill - Hill is a 6-1 205 LB RHP from Lexington NC.  Hill is another well built pitcher with a solid off-speed and 3/4 arm slot.  He's topped out at 93 MPH.

Braden Weaver - Weaver is a right handed hitting & throwing OF that will join the Flames from LCA.  Weaver has decent pop for a player with a smaller frame.  Below is a video of a double and a brief write up from March of last year.

Jackson Kendall - Kendall is a 6'5 225 LB RHP from Iowa Central CC.  Kendall has run it up to 94 MPH as well with a nasty slider and what appears to hide the ball very well with his delivery.  Kendall just committed on October 29.

Jack Frankel - Frankel is a 6'2 195 RHP from Texas that is a huge addition to the class.  He's topped out at 94 MPH and has a very smooth easily repeatable delivery.  Frankel is a consensus top 150 National recruit in the class of 2024 and is ranked as high as #20 in some rankings and #2 in the state of Texas.  Frankel had previously been committed to Mississippi State.  The Flames will certainly have to navigate the draft with Frankel.

Jaxon Sorenson - Sorenson is a 6'4 225 LB corner IF JUCU transfer from Iowa Western.  Sorenson started out at Gonzaga where he appeared in 10 games in 2022.  Sorenson exhibits light tower power but as usual with sluggers will need to work to cut down on strikeouts.  He adds another physical presence to the program and lineup.
